Effects of soil media and types of cutting in cherry propagation

An experiment was conducted to study the effects of soil media and types of cuttings on the success of cherry propagation at the Agricultural Research Station, Raikhali, Rangamati Hill Districts during the season 1991 and 1992. The highest success (79.1 and 80.2 %) was found from the media containing 50% sand + 50% cowdung combination followed by 50% soil + 50% sand and 33% sand + 33% soil + 33% cowdung. Success of parts of shoot was observed maximum in tip cutting (78.3 and 78.4%) which was statistically similar to middle part of shoot (77.6 and 77.1%).
