    Abstract
Two field experiments were conducted, one at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Joydebpur, Gazipur under Agroecological Zones, Region 28, and the other at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Jessore under Agroecological Zones, Region 11, during rabi season 1991-92 to study the effect of Bradyrhizobium inoculation and different fertilizer application on the growth, yield and economic performance of soybean, Shohag (Pb-1) variety of soybean and peat based rhizobial inoculum, (strain no. RGm-922) were used in these experiments. It was observed that Bradyrhizobium inoculation either alone or in presence of PKSZn fertilizers gave significantly higher nodule number and weight at both locations. Inoculated plants receiving these fertilizers produced significantly higher grain yield (1.49 and 1.63 t/ha) as well, which was 64 and 70% higher than control treatments at Joydebpur and Jessore, respectively. The inoculum was more profitable than other chemical fertilizers based on benefit cost ratio.
