A 7x7 diallel cross of radish (Raphanus sativus L.) (excluding reciprocals) suggested the importance of dominance for root volume, root weight per plant, plant weight and leaf length. The root weight per plant was observed to be controlled by three pairs of genes. Highest heritability (88%) was observed for days to root harvest, indicating probability of selection in early generations. The asymmetrical distribution of the positive and negative alleles at all loci was found for most of the characters. The graphical analysis indicated wide genetic diversity among the parents.
