Yield and quality of chemically induced carabao mango as affected by fertilizer and irrigation
Abstract
The experiment was conducted to study the Influence of fertilizer and Irrigation on the yield und quality of chemically (KNO3) induced Curabuo mango grown In the pomology Orchard of Central Luzon Stute University (CLSU), Philippine, from June, 1990 to April, 1991. The treatments consisted of complete fertilizer (NPK : 14-14-14) ut 0, 2 und 4kg/treo und irrigation ut fortnightly Intervals from full bloom ( with und without). Results showed thut significantly higher percentage of flowering wus obtulned from the fertilized trees thun the unfertilized ones but fertilized trees took longer duys to hud emergence. Longer und wider punicle, higher fruit set per panicle, maximum fruit retention per punlcle ut hurvest und higher yield per tree were obtulned from the fertilized und Irrigated trees. The highest yield of 88.58 kg/tree wus obtulned from the treutment combinutlon of 2!- kg :complete fertilizer per tree and Irrigated at fortnightly intervuls. However, fertilizer und irrigation decreased fruit weight and fruit size. ^ 1C OOIOUWJU v ! ifiuj>yLKsj tflulfioV A -M biud'jio (goloffiorj Longer ripening period und higher percentage of weight loss of fruit were observed In the treatments which were fertilized and Irrigated at fortnightly interval. The fertilized trees
hud un increase in and TSS (%) but decrease in TA(%) and dry mutter (%) of ripe fruits. The fruits of Irrigated trees hud lower l,H, TSS(%>, dry mutter (%) and higher TA(%) thun the unirrlguted ones.
