The experiments were conducted at the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) farm, Gazipur, during wet season (Transplanted Aman) in 1989 and 1990 to determine the optimum planting time of three modern rice varieties BR11, BR22, BR23 and Nizersail that were planted from August 01 through October 07 with 15 days interval. Among the varieties BR22 gave higher grain yield in most of the planting dates in both the years. Grain yield of BR11 and BR23 was almost similar up to September 01 planting and thereafter yield of BR11 decreased sharply. In September planting yield of BR22 was comparable to Nizersail. Growth duration of BR11 reduced 14-17 days compared to other varieties in August planting. BR11 was suitable for early planting and that of BR22 and BR23 were for late planting.
