Effect of nitrogen and seed rate on the yield of barley under rainfed condition.
Abstract
Abstract:
Studies were conducted at Jamalpur during rabl season for two successive years to determine the response of rainfed barley (var. Jamalpur local) to seed rates (70, 80, 90, 100 and 110 kg/ha) and levels of nitrogen (0, 20, 40, 60, and 80 kg/ha). Grain yield obtained from 100 and 110 kg seeds/ha was significantly higher than the other seed rates. Nitrogen at 60 and 80 kg/ha gave maximum grain and straw yields irrespective of seeding rates. Two year's data indicated that considering the cost 60 kg N/ha with 100 kg seedsha would be optimum or best for maximizing the yield of barley under rainfed condition at Jamalpur.
