Abstract
Abstract :
Prolitability analysis of wheat production in small, medium and large sized farms was done in Dinajpur district of Bangladesh. The data were collected from 01 July to 30 September 2004. Gross margin, net return and benefit cost ratio were used for the profitability analysis. All the selected farmers used animal power for land preparation for wheat cultivation. The use of power tiller was found to increase rapidly in the study area. Fanners also widely use mechanical power for land preparation. Gross margin was the highest in medium farms, followed by small and large farms. Estimated benefit cost ratios indicated that return over per taka investment was higher for large farm, which was 2.01 followed by medium (1.83) and small farms (1.55). Therefore, positive relationship was observed between benefit cost ratio and farm size.
