Abstract :
A field experiment was conducted at the research farm of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University during winter season to observe the response of cabbage to different levels of boron (B) and molybdenum (Mo) for optimum head yield in the Shallow Red-Brown Terrace Soil of Bangladesh. Three levels of B (0, 1 and 2 kg ha'1) and four levels of Mo (0, 0.5, 1 and 1.5 kg ha'1) were assigned in unit plots along with the recommended dose of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and sulfur. The individual and combined effects of B and Mo on the yield attributes and head yield of cabbage were significant. The highest plant height, head length, head diameter and head yield (82.47 t ha'1) was obtained with the combined dose of 2 kg B and 1 kg Mo ha1 suggesting that these amounts of B and Mo were optimum for cabbage cultivation. The highest dry matter was also produced with these amounts of B and Mo. Nutrient uptake by cabbage was increased with the increase of B and Mo application up to 2 kg B and 1 kg Mo ha'1. Nutrient uptake was positively correlated with the head yield and total dry matter production.
