Abstract :
Multiple shoot proliferation was obtained by culturing shoot tips and nodal explants of jackfruit plants in vitro . The best response towards shoot multiplication was achieved by adding 1.5 mg/I benzylaminopurine (BAP) in the medium. Microcuttings taken from proliferated shoots produced roots on half woody plant (WP) medium with various concentrations and combinations of IBA and NAA. The optimum rooting was achieved at 2 mg/I IBA. About 80% of these plantlets survived when rooted plantlets were transferred to the soil substrate.
