Abstract :
Low temperature (5°C for 20 and 30 days, 10°C for 10 days, 35°C for 30 days control) effect was studied in four garlic cultivars (viz Faridpuri (single) Faridpur, Natore & Indian) at Bangabandhu Sheikh. Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University. Low temperature caused early maturity than control. Plants in low temperatures (5°C) treated cultivars were shorter (37.68 cm.) than medium & high (35°C) temperature. Leaf number per plant was the highest (10.92) at 10°C for 10 days. Low temperature (5°C for 20 & 30 days) produced the longer, wider & heavier but fewer cloves than higher temperature. Low temperature caused less number of cloves per bulbs than medium low, high & control temperature. Low temperature treatments caused lower yield (2.35 -2.66 t/ha) than 10°C & 35°C treatments. Medium low temperature (10°C for 10 days) was suitable for bulb yield in garlic.
