Abstract :
Genotypic variation in twelve grasspea genotypes for thousand seed weight, percent germination and percent hard seed as affected by harvesting date and position of seed was investigated during November, 1994. Significant variation was observed among the genotypes for all the characters. The genotype "107/10-4" produced very large size seed which was significantly higher than all other genotypes. Seed germination varied significantly among the genotypes. The genotype "108/11-1" should highest percent of seed germination. Significant variation among the genotypes for percent hard seed was observed. The genotype "Jamalpur" exhibited significantly higher number of hard seeds per plant over all other genotypes. Significant effect of harvesting time on 1000-seed weight was observed. Seed weight of the third and fourth harvest was the highest. The percent germination and percent hard seed were not significantly influenced by harvesting time. Significant effect of position on 1000-seed weight was observed but percent germination and percent hard seed were not significantly influenced by position. Differential response of genotypes for 1000-seed weight was observed at different harvests. The genotypes responded differently for percent germination and percent hard seed from different position of plant.
