dc.description.abstractAbstract: An experiment was studied during winter, 1994-95 at the Regional Agricultural Research Station, Rahmatpur, Barisal. It appeared that increasing seed rates resulted in increased total dry matter and leaf area index but it did not increase grain yield in wheat (Triticum aestivum). Per plant dry matter production decreased with increasing the seed rate. The Maximum LAI was observed at the booting stage (42 DAE) of crop growth while higher RGR and NAR were found at the maximum tillering stage (28 DAE) for all the treatments. In case of 100 and 120 kg/ha seed rate, booting stage gave higher CGR but 200 kg/ha gave the maximum CGR ( 0.4146 g/dm2/day) the maximum tillering stage. At the ripening stage of crop, panicle dry weight accounted for 45.74 per cent (average) of the total dry weight, on the other hand, leaf produced higher dry weight (av. 24.21%) at the booting stage. The seed rate of 120 kg/ha gave significantly higher grain yield (3187 kg/ha) compared to 100, 160 and 200 kg/ha seed rate.en_US
