Responses of chickpea to Rhizobium inoculation and application of NPK were investigated in a field trial. Single application of Rhizobium inoculant significantly increased number of total nodules, dry weight of nodules, shoot and root, length of root, N content and N uptake by shoot compared to control. Application of P and K along with Rhizobium inoculant further enhanced all the crop characters. Treatment consisting of chemical N fertilizer along with P and K could not perform well as compared to Rhizobium inoculant in most cases. There were high positive relationships of total number of nodules with dry weight of nodules, shoot and root, N content and N uptake by shoot of the crop.en_US
