dc.description.abstractThis research work was done to evaluate some modem rice varieties in terms of yield and yield components at three fertilizer treatments (Mi = without NPK, M2 = 40- 30-30 and M3 = 80-60-60 kg of N-P2O5-K2O /ha). Twelve modem rice varieties were grown and most of the varieties responded positively to higher fertilizer management BR3, BR9, BR16 BR18 and BR19 yielded over 3 t/ha at Mi level, indicating their well adaptation to low fertility of soil. BR18 may be considered as a low fertilizer input variety, since it yielded 4.09 t/ha at Mi level. Moderate (M2) and higher fertilizer management (M3) levels in BR7, BR9 and BR17 gave statistically similar yield. BR1, BR3, BR8, BR16 and BR19 yielded significantly higher at M3 level over M2. Results suggest that varieties performing well at low to high fertilizer management are likely to have wider adaptability.en_US
