    Abstract
Conducting an cxpcrimcnt with six molsturc regimes, saturation to 0.10 bar tension was found to be superior. Similar yields wcrc also found in thc continuous standing water, continuous saturation and 15 days standing water followed by soil drying upto 0.20 bar tension. Yield was sharply reduced when the soil moisture was always maintained from saturation to 0.20 bar. Plant height, car length and 1000-grain weight wcrc favourcd by thc continuous standing watcr but saturation to 0.10 bar tension favourcd the tillering habit. Saturation to 0.20 bar tension advcrscly affcctcd almost all yield attributes
