Genetic divergence in some germplasm of pea (pisum sativum L.)

Gcnctlc divergence in relation to geographical distribution in 128 gcrmplhsm of pea originating from 17 diffcrcnt countrlcs of the world was studlcd through principal component analysis at IPSA in 1988. Results of the study rcvcalcd that the scatter diagram of the nrst two principlc components dcrivcd from the correlation matrix among thc cntry means divided the whole population into 16 broad bascd groups. Random distribution or gcnotypcs In thc clusters indicated no parallel relationship bctwccn gcnctlc and geographical diversity in pea. Inclusion of geographically diverse materials in onc gcnctic group might bc due to continuous exchange of gene pool among thc countries through trade relationship and international co-operation in research.
