dc.description.abstract | Abstract: A diallel cross involving eight varieties of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) showed varying degrees of heterosis over better and mid-parent for all the characters studied. Nine crosses showed significant negative heterosis for days to heading over mid-parent. Most of the crosses showed negative heterosis for plant height over their respective taller parent. Maximum heterosis for number of spikes per plant was 141.70% and for spike length was 24.22% over better parent. For grain yield per plant Dirk x Kheri showed maximum heterosis over better and mid-parent (182.91% and 21536%, respectively). | en_US |
