dc.description.abstractAbstract : An experiment comprising eleven combinations of N (0, 25, 50, 75, and 100 kg/ha), P (0, 50, 100 and 150 kg/ha) and K (0, 50, 100 and 150 kg/ha) with a blanket dose of cowdung (10 t/ha) was conducted in RCB design with three replications at ARS, Raikhali, Rangamati in two consecutive cropping seasons of 2003-04 and 2004-05 to study the yield performances of Jack bean and to determine the optimum fertilizer requirement. N, P and K. significantly increased branching, number of pods, weight of pods/plant, fresh pod yield, gross return and benefit cost ratio. Application of N, P and K @ 50, 200 and 100 kg/ha, respectively, produced the maximum number of pods/plant (37.38) and maximum pod yield (23.86t/ha). The lowest number of pod and yield (16.92 pods/plant, 11.34 t/ha) was obtained from control. The highest gross margin of Tk. 1,90,880/ha, net return (Tk. 1,48,660/ha) and benefit cost ratio (4.52) were obtained from the application of N, P, and K @ 50, 200 and 100 kg/ha, respectively. The calculated optimum dose of N, P and K dose for maximum yield and profitability was 78, 212 and 110 & 75, 185 and 89 kg/ha, respectively.en_US
