Abstract : • -‘Vie maintainer lines of rice were studied to observe their variability, direct and indirect effect on yield of some yield contributing characters. High heritability coupled with high genetic advance was observed for plant height, number of tiller per hill, number of spikelets per panicle and grain yield per hill of different maintainer lines. Days to initial flowering, days to 50% flowering, length of panicle and number of spikelets per panicle of different maintainer lines showed a high degree of significant positive correlation with grain yield per hill. Positive direct effects were observed for number of spikelets per panicle, days to initial flowering, number of tillers/hill and 100 grain weight of different maintainer lines on grain yield. Days to 50% flowering, plant hight and panicle length contributed indirectly to yield.en_US
