Abstract : Phytoplankton and zooplankton abundance and periodicity of Bagha dighi, Rajshahi, Bangladesh was observed for the period from July-2002 to June-2004. During this intensive observation 106 species of phytoplankton and 27 species of zooplankton were identified. Their seasonal abundance was estimated. The highest abundance of phytoplankton was observed in winter and then summer seasons while the zooplankton abundance was highest in the monsoon and post monsoon. The observed abundance ratio of phytoplankton and zooplankton which regulate by the physico-chemical factros showed a unique balanced ecosystem logical chain in the habitat. The mean ration of total observation period phytoplankton and zooplankton species is (2.4: 1) an instance of productive nature.en_US
